Fair and Festivities of Pedro Romero: second fortnight of August 2024
Already in the second half of August, the engines are starting to warm up: On the 15th of August, the official starting signal for the 2024th edition of the fair will be given with the concert of Camela at the Ángel Harillo fairgrounds. On 22nd August, Luis Candela Lozano will give the opening speech of the Fair. On 24 August, the Festival del Cante Grande will be held, with Felipa del Moreno, Jesús Méndez and José Canela on vocals, Manuel Valencia, Pepe del Morao and Manuel Jero on guitar. This same night, in Las Murallas del Carmen, the winners of the flamenco contest ‘Aniya la Gitana’ will perform, with Mari Ángeles Cruzado on vocals, Agustín de la Fuente on guitar and Manuel de Lola on dance.
Fair and Festivities of Pedro Romero: from 3 to 8 September 2024
In the first week of September, Ronda finally fills with colour, music, dance, song and wine. The city dresses up and offers locals and visitors a wide range of cultural and leisure activities. Among the cultural events, don’t miss the Ronda International Folklore Gala, the oldest festival in Andalusia and one of the most important in Spain. It takes place in the Blas Infante Auditorium in Ronda, where groups from more than 50 countries from all over the world come together to demonstrate that they are the best in their places of origin. In the Cabalgata we will see the Goyesca ladies in traditional costume, the most iconic of the fair. Young and old will be able to enjoy the Feria del Centro and different concerts in the Caseta Municipal.
A bit of history about the Fair and Festivities of Pedro Romero
This is one of the most important festivals in the province of Malaga. It originated in the San Francisco neighbourhood, where it was held for about 100 years before moving to the Mercadillo neighbourhood in 1881. In 1954 the September fair became the Pedro Romero Fair, in homage to the Ronda bullfighter.
